Last weekend, we traded snowy Boston for sunny Arizona, staying at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess – a beautiful oasis in the Sonoran desert.
Where: Scottsdale, Arizona
When: March 2018
Stayed: Fairmont Scottsdale Princess
Upon arriving, we set out to explore the grounds. With a pond (you can fish in!), several pools (including a rooftop adults-only one), and cacti everywhere, there is so much to love about this property.
There are also a few amazing restaurants on property, including La Hacienda. From the guacamole to the queso fundido to the churros, everything was muy delicioso – especially those flaming mezcal coffees for dessert! And after dinner, there was the dive-in movie – a perfect end to the evening.
On Saturday, we woke early, went for another stroll, and relaxed by the “beach” for a bit before breakfast.
We spent the day at the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, followed by ice cream sandwiches at The Baked Bear.
In the afternoon, Matty and I tag teamed relaxation at the beautiful spa. The massage therapist was amazing, and the eucalyptus steam room was pure heaven.
On Sunday, we bid adieu to the beautiful Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, and stopped by Taliesin West for a tour. We then had just enough time to stop for lunch (at The Mission – sooo good!), before hopping on a plane back home. We would love to return to spend some more time exploring Old Town and Gilbert, to hike through Saguaro National Park, and to revisit the Fairmont. Such a wonderful weekend away!
