Puglia with The Thinking Traveller

Whether wandering through Florence or sunbathing at La Fontelina, Italy is one of my favorite countries to visit. Puglia had been on my list for years, so I was thrilled to visit in partnership with The Thinking Traveller this past week. With one-of-a-kind, luxury villas all over Europe, we were lucky enough to stay in the beautiful Trullo Alice, located in the hills of Monopoli. My parents came along (the perfect father’s day gift!), and we had the most wonderful time exploring the “heel” of Italia.

Trullo Alice has an authentic trulli house (which I slept in!), and a modern house opposite (where mom and dad stayed). There was a light, airy kitchen leading through the olive trees to a turquoise pool, and a huge table for al fresco dining. Lavender bushes were in full bloom, and the only noise was the buzzing of the bees. We were welcomed to the villa with a full spread, one of the many personalized touches The Thinking Traveller is known for. From tours to boat rides to car rentals to private chefs, there is nothing they won’t do to ensure your holiday is as wonderful as it can be.

From Polignano a Mare to Ostuni, from Alberobello to Otranto, from Le Maldive de Salento to Gallipoli… we explored as much of Puglia as we could during our stay. Hence the load of photos to follow! Some of my favorite swimming spots were Le Maldive de Pescoluse, Grotta della Poesia and Spiaggia Punta della Suina. We also spent two days at the Coccaro Beach Club, which all three of us loved, and which was only ten minutes from our villa. More on that below.

Coccaro Beach Club was the perfect spot to spend the day. With crystal clear water, a delicious restaurant and even a boutique carrying local brands, we could have spent the whole summer there.

Until next time, Italy!

  1. These are so cute – I love your little bump! I am so jealous of all your fabulous travel adventures! And I LOVE how you filter your photos from each location to have the same “theme”; lighter for the beach, sandy for the desert… and your Scotland ones, obsessed! Do you mind if I ask what program you are using? I want to give some of my Tahoe photos more of a beachy-vibe but I’m not great at Photoshop or Lightroom just yet! I would love a filter I could apply to all of them for the same effect! Cannot wait to watch your little peanut/family grow!

Thank you so much!! This is the nicest. 🙂 I actually just use an iPhone with VSCO – not one filter, but all the tools they offer. I hope that helps a bit, and thank you again!

    Lauren,

Just stunning! Truly. What a great experience and bonus for spending alongside your parents.

BTW – love your C!ao t-shirt…so cute over that patootie bump. Did you get the shirt in Italy?

  4. How wonderful that you were able to experience the magic of Puglia! We recently bought a little holiday house in the Salento region close to the Ionian Sea in Nardò. Il Cubo is a stylish romantic retreat ( ilcubonardo.com ) that is a perfect spot for exploring the beaches, food and wine of Puglia. A presto!
