During our time in Aix, we took a day trip to the turquoise island of Porquerolles.
When: May 2016
Where: Île de Porquerolles, France
Instagram: #wellstourdefrance
The Île de Porquerolles is located right off the coast of Hyères, just a short ferry ride away. We drove to the Tour Fondue at the end of the Giens Peninsula, and parked right in a big lot. We bought our tickets at the TLV office, and a short while later, were island bound!
When we got off the boat, we rented bikes and backpacks from Le Cycle Porquerollais. The island is rugged, lush and incredibly laid back – perhaps the Nantucket of France, oui? Equipped with a map and our swimsuits, we biked to the many beautiful beaches – parking and swimming and then cycling to the next. (Many of the photos below are from Plage Notre Dame).
The center of town has a whole row of restaurants and snack bars – with lots of granita! We ended up eating beachside at the Plage d’Argent, with plenty of cold wine and salted fish.
I absolutely loved this little island, and can’t wait to return someday. Until next time, Porquerolles!
