This past February, Matty and I flew to Panama for a long weekend. (Five short hours from Boston with COPA airlines)! We stayed at one of our most favorite properties to date, wandered the beautiful streets of Casco Viejo, and took a day trip to the unbelievable San Blas Islands.
When: February 2016
Where: Casco Viejo, Panama
Stayed: American Trade Hotel
We opted for a ‘Jardin’ suite, which had a balcony and a backyard. The light, the air… the evening music from Plaza Herrera below… it was absolutely perfect.
More beautiful spaces included the library, pool and Cafe Unido – which also served the most delicious waissants!
Our favorite part of the hotel was Danilo’s Jazz Club. Truly the BEST experience(s), plural. Because one show was just not enough! We would grab dinner and rooftop drinks at Tantalo, then head to Danilo’s for the late show. My number one must-do if you visit!
Our first day in the city, we woke up early and wandered to Bajareque. (They, Cafe Unido and Casa Sucre were all wonderful coffee shops). We ate brunch at Las Clementinas, where we had the whole jungle to ourselves. Magical place! We also made sure to grab a couple of scoops from Granclement, which was all sorts of delicious. Besides that, it was just fun to wander the streets and take in all the colors. So much history, and so many details.
Until next time, Panama!
